Joe Jimenez has been the Detroit Tigers’ closer of the future for a few years now. On Saturday, he was their closer of the present. Jimenez worked a quick 1-2-3 ninth inning against the Toronto Blue Jays for his first career save, helping the Tigers win their fourth game in a row.
Though he didn’t record a strikeout, Jimenez put together the most stress-free save you will ever see. He went to a 3-2 count against Kevin Pillar, but induced a weak pop-up for the first out. Former Tigers prospect Devon Travis grounded out weakly to the right side — notice Jimenez alertly getting off the mound to cover first!
