One player Daz Cameron has drawn comparisons to in his short time with the Detroit Tigers organization is the last great center fielder to man the position in Motown: Austin Jackson. Though Jackson was an excellent defender, one of the knocks on him during his Tigers heyday was that he did not dive after balls in the gap.
I’m not saying this comparison is a complete failure, but Daz Cameron doesn’t subscribe to the same “no diving” philosophy.
Cameron’s efforts helped preserve a 1-1 tie at the time, but the Philadelphia Phillies scored a pair of runs in the seventh to win 3-1 on Thursday.
