The first game of the Tigers’ 2019 campaign took a while to get underway. Opening Day ceremonies delayed the first pitch for a half hour and had everyone antsy. However, starters Jordan Zimmermann and Marcus Stroman helped make up for lost time by quickly roaring through the opposing lineup. In fact, Zimmermann took a perfecto into the seventh, and needed only 70 pitches before Ron Gardenhire defused our Maddux watch by turning to the pen.
And still, no offense.
When the game finally entered extra innings, we all had visions of a walkoff loss.
