SEATTLE -- Detroit Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez, on the 10-day disabled list after experiencing an irregular heartbeat, has already started doing light workouts.
Martinez was hospitalized six days ago after he felt ill during a game. He remained in Detroit when the Tigers left for their current West coast road trip.
Martinez was cleared to do some light cardio on Wednesday, manager Brad Ausmus said. He did 10 minutes on the elliptical and took some swings off a batting tee.
Martinez's status will be reevaluated when the Tigers return from their road trip on Tuesday.
