SAN DIEGO -- Designated hitter Victor Martinez has been cleared to come off the disabled list on Tuesday at the start of the Detroit Tigers' 10-game homestand, manager Brad Ausmus said.
Martinez was hospitalized last weekend after feeling ill during a game. He was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat and monitored by doctors this week.
He was cleared to do light cardio work two days ago.
Ausmus said he doesn't expect that Martinez will need to go on a rehab assignment before returning to the club.
Martinez has remained at home in Detroit while the Tigers play on the West coast.
