DETROIT -- Victor Martinez was hospitalized after leaving Thursday night's game and was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat, Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said.
Martinez was placed on the 10-day disabled list. Catcher/first baseman John Hicks was recalled from Triple-A Toledo to take his place.
Ausmus said Martinez experienced sweating, chills and dizziness.
He went to the hospital after the game and remained there Friday afternoon. Ausmus said it's possible he could stay there Friday night as well.
Ausmus said the team would know more on Saturday after more tests are completed.
More coming soon.
