DETROIT -- Victor Martinez had three singles, including a shift-beating bunt, and Jordan Zimmermann pitched six strong innings to lead the Detroit Tigers to a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night at Comerica Park.
Zimmermann allowed six singles and a solo home run by Anthony Rizzo in the sixth that produced the Cubs' only run.
Rizzo dropped down to one knee to smack the ball into the right field seats, toppling over in the batter's box in the process.
The Tigers scored two runs in the first inning when Jeimer Candelario doubled and Jose Iglesias and Martinez followed with singles.
