‘Very satisfying’: Tigers win battle of pitching wizards

Detroit — If you didn’t enjoy this one, then you must hate greatness.

It was a duel of absolute masters. One was in complete control of his powers — Red Sox Chris Sale. And the other was fighting and grinding through a day when he was just a touch off — Tigers' Justin Verlander.

Both aces walked off the field to standing ovations from the appreciative 24,672 at Comerica Park. But, with baseball being the unpredictable drama that it is, it was the Tigers who ultimately prevailed, beating the Red Sox, 2-1 with a two-out rally in the eighth inning Monday.
