A bullpen meltdown by the Tigers in the eighth inning wasted Justin Verlander’s best start of the season.
The Tigers gave up seven runs in the eighth inning and went on to lose their sixth straight game, losing 8-2, to the Rangers this afternoon in front of 35,406 at Comerica Park.
Verlander pitched seven scoreless innings for the Tigers. He struck out nine and allowed three hits and two walks.
Justin Wilson came on for the eighth and gave up back-to-back singles before he was replaced by Mark Lowe.
Adrian Beltre hit an RBI single.
