Martinez will remain in the Detroit area as the Tigers travel to the West Coast next week. He'll be monitored for the next 7-10 days, according to Ausmus.
"The thought process is probably a week of rest," Ausmus said.
Martinez went on the 10-day disabled list Friday. He won't be eligible to return until the start of the Tigers' next homestand June 27. Whether he's cleared to return at that point remains to be seen.
Martinez's health was on the Tigers' minds as they continued without him Friday night. Miguel Cabrera said Friday that Martinez's situation was scary stuff.
