Detroit — How about this for players stepping up in the absence of Miguel Cabrera?
Rookies Grayson Greiner and Victor Reyes delivered RBI singles to trigger a four-run rally in the bottom of the eighth to send the Tigers to a 5-2 win over the Twins Wednesday.
The Tigers had gone 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position through the first seven innings and trailed 2-1.
But against reliever Addison Reed, John Hicks and Niko Goodrum — who each got three hits on the night — singled with one out.
Greiner then squibbed one off the end of his bat that rolled past the bag at first into shallow right field.
