LAKELAND, Fla. -- Players' union chief Tony Clark spent at least two hours in the Detroit Tigers' clubhouse on Tuesday morning, fielding questions from players and addressing "significant concerns" about the current competitive climate in Major League Baseball.
Clark, on his annual spring training tour, told reporters that too many clubs have already thrown in the towel before a single game has been played, leading to a glut of unsigned free agents.
"We simply have never seen what I'll describe as upwards of one-third of the league not as interested in being the last team standing and articulating that publicly," Clark said.
