After a troublesome night for the bullpen last night, the Detroit Tigers tried to conserve their bullpen and get every out they could out of Matthew Boyd. The plan backfired, as the Twins scored four runs in the seventh inning. The Tigers fall to the Twins, 5-3.
Before we dive into how this one unraveled, I must note that the Tigers gave Matt Magill and the Twins a run for their money in the ninth. Victor Martinez—who very possibly played his best game of the year, as he went 3-3 with an RBI and an intentional walk—led the inning off with a double and left the game as Jose Iglesias entered as a pinch-runner.
