ARLINGTON, Texas – At his core, Justin Verlander is not complex.
Sure, there are realities that helped shape the Detroit Tigers right-hander's personality: the baseball fame and the more famous fiancée (Kate Upton), the mega millions salary, and the life in the limelight. But it typically doesn't distract him from the down-to-Earth demeanor that often is visible inside the Tigers clubhouse.
Yet the Verlander we saw after Tuesday night’s 10-4 loss to the Texas Rangers could only be described as complex. At the heart of the matter is one of the things he cares about most: Winning.
