NEW YORK -- The Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees are in their second rain delay of the afternoon as thunderstorms pummel the area.
The Tigers lead 2-0 after seven innings. Follow live stats here.
The game started 80 minutes late due to light rain that continued through much of the early innings. But the rain started getting harder as the game went on and finally broke into a heavy downpour with thunder and lightning just as the top of the eighth inning was about to start.
Both teams were on get-away days; the Tigers are heading to Baltimore this evening, while the Yankees begin a series in Cleveland on Thursday.
