CLEVELAND -- When the fly ball landed in center fielder Rajai Davis' glove in the second inning Tuesday night, most everyone in Progressive Field looked down to mark the play in their scorecard, check their phone or maybe take a swig of beer.
No one expected Niko Goodrum to tag up from first base.
But perhaps they should have. Davis doesn't have a strong arm, and these are the Detroit Tigers under new manager Ron Gardenhire.
Expect aggressiveness and risk-taking on the base paths.
"We said we were going to take chances," Gardenhire said.
The throw beat Goodrum by several feet but he swam around the tag and safely into second base (after a review overturned the original out call).
