DETROIT -- Detroit Tigers right-handed pitcher Artie Lewicki has been claimed on waivers by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Lewicki, 26, underwent Tommy John surgery in August and won't be able to pitch again until 2020.
He was one of five players waived by the Tigers this week.
Four others -- infielders Harold Castro and Pete Kozma; first baseman/outfielder Jim Adduci; and right-handed reliever Louis Coleman -- cleared waivers and were outrighted to Triple-A Toledo.
All four can become free agents this winter, but the Tigers will probably invite all or most of them back on minor-league deals in 2019.
