Detroit Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez was hospitalized Thursday for something manager Brad Ausmus called "more scary than a general baseball injury."
Ausmus told MLB Network Radio earlier today that Martinez stayed in a hospital overnight for observation and could do the same tonight.
Martinez, 38, was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat and will be placed on the 10-day disabled list, Ausmus later told reporters. The Tigers are scheduled to host the Tampa Rays at 7 p.m. at Comerica Park.
