CLEVELAND -- Almost 15 years after getting his first Major League hit at what was then called Jacobs Field, Victor Martinez hit No. 2,000 here, too.
Martinez blooped a single to left field in the second inning. He received a friendly ovation from the fans when his accomplishment was recognized on the scoreboard.
"It would be nice," he said before the game. "Everything started here. It's where I got my first one."
Martinez has 900 hits with the Indians (2002-2009), 202 with the Boston Red Sox (2009-10) and now 880 with the Tigers, who he joined after the 2010 season.
