CLEVELAND -- The Detroit Tigers have transferred shortstop Jose Iglesias to the 60-day disabled list, effectively ending his season.
It also means that Iglesias, who will be a free agent this winter, may have played his final game in a Tigers' uniform.
Iglesias went on the 10-day disabled list on Aug. 30 after suffering an abdominal strain. He went to see a specialist earlier this week after his recovery did not progress as quickly as anticipated.
Iglesias' transfer creates a spot on the 40-man roster for veteran infielder Pete Kozma, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Toledo on Friday.
