BALTIMORE – David Price was the first free agent-to-be traded by the Detroit Tigers today, and Joakim Soria became the next one to go.
Soria, the Tigers' right-handed closer, was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates for JaCoby Jones, a shortstop/outfield prospect in the Pirates' organization.
Jones will play shortstop at Double-A Erie, the team said after making the trade official.
Tigers manager Brad Ausmus had said before tonight's game against the Baltimore Orioles that nothing was imminent on any other moves after Price was dealt to the Toronto Blue Jays. Ausmus also said he hadn't been told to keep anyone out of the lineup and that all players were available to play.
