Right as the figurative buzzer sounded on Wednesday’s 4 p.m. MLB trade deadline, the Detroit Tigers traded Nicholas Castellanos to the Chicago Cubs, according to a report from Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
We do not know what the return for Castellanos is at this time, but given how the market has shaken out for similar players, it is likely not substantial. Left-handed outfielder Corey Dickerson fetched only international slot bonus money as he moved from the Pirates to the Phillies.
The Cubs have been interested in Castellanos for a while to help bolster their struggling outfield.
