Tigers trade Lobstein to Pirates

On Friday, Kyle Lobstein was designated for assignment. Today, he was traded.

The Detroit Tigers sent the left-handed pitcher to the Pittsburgh Pirates this afternoon, for cash considerations.

Lobstein, 26, has a 5.33 ERA in two major league seasons. This past season, he made only 13 appearances -- 11 starts -- because of injuries. He finished with a 5.94 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in 63 2/3 innings.

In 2014, he was pushed into the Tigers' rotation late in the pennant race and performed admirably, posting a 4.25 ERA in six starts.

Lobstein was acquired in a 2012 trade with the New York Mets, after being selected in the Rule 5 Draft.
