The list started with 20 names, and after Brad Ausmus did his homework, and after general manager Al Avila interviewed a half-dozen of them, the choice became clear.
Rich Dubee is the new pitching coach of the Detroit Tigers.
Dubee, who has served 13 seasons as a major league pitching coach -- most notably with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2005-13 -- will take over from the retired Jeff Jones, the team announced today.
“I’m very thrilled to be here and appreciative of another opportunity to coach at the major league level, and especially with an organization like the Detroit Tigers,” Dubee said in a conference call with reporters.
