MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Detroit Tigers hung on to snap a four-game losing streak.
Tigers closer Francisco Rodriguez entered the ninth with a two-run lead, but gave up a one-out solo home run to Jason Castro, then a single to Brian Dozier. Jorge Polanco flied out to the warning track in right and Joe Mauer struck out swinging.
Tempers flared in the fifth inning after Tigers pitcher Matt Boyd threw behind Miguel Sano.
The Tigers lost JaCoby Jones after he was hit in the face by an 89 m.p.h. fastball from right-handed pitcher Justin Haley in the third inning.
