LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Detroit Tigers’ top prospect is ticketed for Triple-A Toledo.
Right-handed pitcher Michael Fulmer was optioned out of big-league camp this morning and will start the season in the Mud Hens’ rotation.
The move comes as no surprise: Fulmer had been a long shot to make the team in a relief role from the outset of his first major league spring training, and it was more likely that the Tigers would keep him in a starting role to serve as insurance throughout the season.
Fulmer allowed five runs on six hits in 7 1/3 innings this spring.
