Detroit Tigers right-handed pitching prospect Casey Mize left Thursday's start for the Erie SeaWolves with a possible injury in the third inning Thursday.
The No. 1 overall selection in the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft had allowed one hit and a walk with two strikeouts in 2 1/3. He faced eight batters, threw 23 pitches, including 15 strikes.
SeaWolves catcher Kade Scivicque summoned manager Mike Rabelo and training staff after Mize threw one pitch to Reading's Jose Gomez. Mize was relieved by Nolan Blackwood.
Mize is 8-1 and 1.41 ERA this season combined between Class-A Lakeland and Double-A Erie.
