Casey Mize came back from a slightly rocky last start to dismantle the Hartford Yard Goats on Monday. He allowed a walk and a couple early singles and had to pitch out of a little trouble in the second inning. From there he settled in to thoroughly dominate the Goats, punching out six over six scoreless innings. Mize went away from the heavy cutter usage we’ve seen in his last few starts, pounding the Goats with his lively heater as he dialed in his command. The revamped slider and signature splitter did the rest, producing wind and weak contact most of the evening.
