The Tigers will remember longtime radio broadcaster Paul Carey prior to Friday’s game against the Cleveland Indians at 7:10 p.m. with an on-field, pregame tribute. The pregame ceremony will begin at approximately 6:50 p.m.
A flag bearing Carey’s initials will be raised on the center field flag pole and will be flown throughout the season to pay tribute to his life, career and the positive impact he made with the Tigers.
Carey died April 12 after a battle with cancer. He was 88.
He worked 19 years as Ernie Harwell's partner on WJR-AM 760 broadcast of Tigers games, highlighting four decades in the radio industry that included play-by-play work with the Pistons and his famed late Friday night high school scoreboard show.
