DETROIT -- On a cool, gray afternoon with both teams decked out in throw-back uniforms and Jose Feliciano performing his distinctive rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner, it felt a bit like autumn in 1968 at Comerica Park.
Fifty years after they earned their place in history, more than a dozen members of the 1968 Detroit Tigers were celebrated before Saturday's game.
The Tigers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in a memorable seven-game World Series that year to become, as master of ceremonies Dan Dickerson said Saturday, "one of the most beloved teams in all of Detroit sports history.
