Cleveland – It wasn’t for a lack of opportunity, that’s for sure.
The Cleveland Guardians evened the series with a 2-0 win at Progressive Field Tuesday, on a night when the Tigers left 11 runners on base and went 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position – and 10 of those outs were strikeouts.
Frustrating night, especially since Tigers starter Michael Lorenzen pitched brilliantly, allowing only a first-inning run through seven innings.
The Tigers had a runner in scoring position in each of the first eight innings and couldn't erase that skinny one-run deficit. Reliever James Karinchak walked two batters in the seventh.
