They promptly won eight of their next nine and ultimately finished the year fighting for a playoff spot until the final weekend of the season.

The Tigers dropped to 32-37 on Monday night after a 6-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners. They've lost three in a row and eight of their last 11 since sweeping the Chicago White Sox on June 2-4 to reach .500.
