Tigers spring training observations: Nick Castellanos, pitching, more

After spending two weeks throughout the Grapefruit League watching the Detroit Tigers play spring training exhibitions, here are 10 thoughts from Free Press sports writer Anthony Fenech:

1. Though the good vibe from camp is still there – it is spring, after all – a number of warts have popped up. All involve the pitching staff. Sure, the wins and losses and numbers don’t mean anything right now, but the Tigers seem short on pitching.

2. Nick Castellanos is running better, thanks to a combination of his shape – stronger and lighter – and his mindset, which shows a maturing player.
