LAKELAND, Fla. -- Veteran closer Francisco Rodriguez was the only player absent for the first official workout for pitchers and catchers on Tuesday at the Tiger Town complex.
Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said he wasn't aware of any visa issues that were delaying Rodriguez and expected that he would arrive by Wednesday.
All other pitchers and catchers were accounted for. Many position players were also in the clubhouse, including outfielders Tyler Collins, JaCoby Jones and Mikie Mahtook, who are all competing for the center field job.
The first full squad workout is Saturday.
