Detroit Tigers righthander Spencer Turnbull left his start on Thursday after just two innings with an apparent injury. Turnbull showed no signs of pain or injury while pitching against the Texas Rangers, but he went down to the clubhouse with the Tigers’ training staff after the top of the second and did not return.
A Turnbull injury could potentially cause further issues for a Tigers rotation still in need of a fifth starter for Saturday’s matchup against the Washington Nationals. Lefthanders Gregory Soto and Ryan Carpenter are the most likely candidates to fill in that spot in the rotation, as well as for Turnbull if he needs to miss any time.
