Tigers sign three to 40-player roster

Detroit — The Tigers on Friday added three of their top pitching prospects to the 40-man roster, thus protecting them against the Rule 5 draft, which will take place Dec. 10.

They purchased the contracts of right-handers Michael Fulmer and Montreal Robertson, both from Double A Erie, and left-hander Jairo Labourt from Single A Lakeland.

Fulmer, 22, was acquired from the Mets in the Yoenis Cespedes trade on July 31. Labourt, 21, was part of the package the Tigers got from Toronto for David Price. Robertson was the club’s 29th round pick in 2011.

Between Single-A and Double-A last season, Fulmer was 10-3 with a 2.
