Tigers sign lefty Andrew Chafin to two-year, $12M deal, also keep Wily Peralta

Lakeland, Fla. — The Tigers have added two more contestants to the battle for pitching depth.

The biggest splash was the signing of veteran left-handed reliever Andrew Chafin to a two-year, $12 million contract. An eight-year veteran, Chafin has a 12-17 career record with a 3.30 ERA.

That's the most significant signing for the Tigers since the lockout ended and free-agency restarted.

He's pitched for three teams, including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs and, last season, the Oakland A's.

Veteran Wily Peralta, who finished last season in the Tigers' rotation, also agreed to a minor-league deal with the club.
