OAKLAND -- A West Coast trip that began with dueling no-hitters deep into Friday night ended with another example of why Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire called the A's "relentless." Ramon Laureano's first Major League hit, a walk-off single in the 13th inning, ended a scoreless duel with a 1-0 Tigers loss at Oakland Coliseum.
While Oakland lefty Brett Anderson retired Detroit's first 16 batters in order, Blaine Hardy held the A's hitless into the seventh inning in his 11th career Major League start. Matt Olson, who walked twice in lefty-lefty matchups with Hardy, was the only player to step on first base safely until Jose Iglesias doubled with one out in the sixth.
