Liliano Castro never made it to the big leagues.
He signed with the Detroit Tigers in the late 1980s and made it only to Class A. .
So when his son, Tigers shortstop Willi, began his climb up the minor league ladder, he made his dad a promise: I’ll make it to the big leagues for you.
“Now I’m here, making my dream come true,” Castro said.
Castro, the organization’s top infield prospect, was promoted to the majors last weekend in Minnesota.
