The Tigers selected outfielder Akil Baddoo in Thursday's Rule 5 draft.
The Tigers used the No. 3 pick in the major-league phase of the draft to take Baddoo, 22, who hit .214 with four home runs and nine RBIs in 29 games at Fort Myers, the Minnesota Twins' Single-A affiliate, in 2019. He missed most of that season with an arm injury.
“Akil had standout tools when he signed out of high school, and we’ve definitely seen them on display during his time in professional baseball,” Al Avila, Tigers executive vice president of baseball operations and general manager, said in a statement.
