The Detroit Tigers have selected catcher Dillon Dingler with the No. 38 overall pick in the MLB draft. The Ohio State backstop is their first of five picks on day two of the 2020 MLB draft.
After a freshman campaign that didn’t see him do much on defense, Dingler broke out at the plate as a sophomore, hitting .291/.392/.424 despite breaking his hamate bone (a small bone in the wrist) over the offseason. Some scouts believe that he has more power in the tank than he demonstrated in 2019, and he was on his way to proving them right in 2020.
