DETROIT -- Detroit Tigers manager Ron Gardehire watched Thursday night's game sprawled on the couch in his office at Comerica Park.
He had been downing Pedialyte all day, but with a heat index above 100 degrees for a second game in a row, he decided not to take any chances.
By Friday, the illness that had knocked him out of two games was largely gone, and Gardenhire planned to be in the dugout. The temperature at game time Friday night was a very pleasant 77 degrees.
"I actually feel a lot better today," Gardenhire said. "I haven't eaten a lot, but all the other stuff is gone.
