Tigers' Rich Dubee likes aggressive pitching

"How long do we have?," Rich Dubee answered.

The question was about his pitching philosophy, and the new Detroit Tigers pitching coach couldn’t fit so many words of wisdom into so little time during his introductory conference call with reporters Thursday.

But Dubee, a 13-year major-league veteran, did offer this insight into his approach to pitching.

“I like guys that are aggressive,” Dubee said. “I like to emphasize that we pitch inside, we’re aggressive inside. Most of our outs are going to come away but we have to protect that part of the plate.”

Dubee was hired to take over for the retired Jeff Jones on Thursday.
