Tigers release four, Romine claimed by Seattle

Related Topics: Andrew Romine, Jeff Ferrell

With the book officially closed on the 2017 season, the Detroit Tigers announced several roster moves this afternoon which clear out many spots on the 40-man roster. The team announced that super-utility man Andrew Romine was claimed by the Seattle Mariners. They also announced the outrighting right-handed pitcher Jeff Ferrell, and outfielders Jim Adduci, Tyler Collins, and Alex Presley. Lastly, they formally announced the previously mentioned decline of Anibal Sanchez’s 2018 option. This leaves their 40-man roster at 34.

Most missed by fans will be Andrew Romine, who was acquired in 2014 in a trade with the Los Angeles Angels for lefty Jose Alverez as a candidate to replace then-injured shortstop Jose Iglesias, who would miss the entire 2014 season with double-stress fractures in his shins.
