CHICAGO -- Detroit's late offensive fight and a rough showing from the White Sox bullpen combined to give the Tigers a 9-7 come-from-behind victory in 10 innings and ruined Chicago's home opener on Thursday at a snowy, blustery Guaranteed Rate Field, with a first-pitch temperature of 43 degrees.
After missing numerous chances throughout the contest, the Tigers scored five combined runs over the ninth and 10th innings. Leonys Martin's run-scoring grounder off of reliever Aaron Bummer drove in Mikie Mahtook and gave the Tigers the lead in the 10th. Jeimer Candelario added an RBI single in the two-run frame.
