Detroit — The Tigers came into the doubleheader Saturday hitting a chilly .189 with runners in scoring position.
That particular shortcoming has been most prominent in four losses to the Orioles, three in Baltimore where they managed only a single run in each game and especially on Thursday when they went 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position and left 15 runners on base in a 7-4 loss.
For one game, at least, consider the script flipped. The Tigers got four run-scoring hits in the first three innings and rode that to a 7-4 win over the Orioles in Game 1 at Comerica Park.
