The Tigers announced Wednesday that right-handed pitching prospect Matt Manning has been diagnosed with a low-level oblique strain that will force him out of action for at least a couple weeks.
The 20-year old Manning is Detroit's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and the No. 55 -ranked prospect across baseball. The Tigers' public relations department announced via its Twitter account that Manning would be shut down and then resume his throwing program once he was pain-free. He was expected to return to the mound for Class A Advanced West Michigan in a couple weeks.
