Tigers prospect Kyle Funkhouser done for year with foot injury

DETROIT -- Detroit Tigers prospect Kyle Funkhouser will miss the rest of the season after breaking a bone in his foot, the team said Tuesday.

Funkhouser, 24, had just been promoted to Triple-A Toledo after a strong showing with Class AA Erie.

The team said he injured his foot on an uneven sidewalk while walking home from a game, fracturing the fifth metatarsal in his right foot.

Funkhouser had stumbled out of the game in Toledo, walking 10 in 8 2/3 innings in his two starts. But he posted a 3.74 ERA in 89 innings at Erie, striking out 89.
