PEORIA, Ariz. -- Jake Rogers is ready to be a Major League catcher.
But he might not get that opportunity unless he can turn himself into a big-league hitter first.
Rogers, acquired last August in the Justin Verlander trade, wrapped up his first full season in the Detroit Tigers organization on Thursday, the final day of the regular season in the Arizona Fall League. After nine months of daily baseball, Rogers and his six Tigers teammates on the Mesa Solar Sox are due for a breather.
Behind the plate, Rogers is one of baseball's most promising prospects.
