Tigers' prospect Christin Stewart knocking on door to big leagues

TOLEDO, Ohio — Christin Stewart is making Triple-A baseball look easy, like he’s ready to move up.

His defense has improved. His strikeouts are down. His batting average is up. He is using the entire field and still blasting balls out of the park.

Which begs the question: How long will the Detroit Tigers wait to bring this left-handed power hitter up to the big leagues?

He has already started knocking on the front door.

“He’s a different kind of hitter,” said Toledo catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, who has played 890 games in the big leagues.
